On work and it’s meaning
Then a ploughman said, Speak to us of Work.
And he answered, saying: You work that you may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth
For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons, and to step out of life’s procession, that marches in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite.
From The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran
Zubedy’s standard festive season greeting always begins with ‘Have a meaningful’ as a reflection of our dedication to find and give meaning to every aspect of our lives – including work. Work, per Kahlil Gibran, is love made visible – a passion for “life’s procession”.
At zubedy, we see work as more than just the means to an end, something to put food on the table. Work is embracing the divine design of life, a cyclical routine of receiving and providing sustenance, a give and take, a selfless undertaking.
To find meaning in one’s work, it needs to be appreciated at a macro level, devoid of the self. After all, earnest work earns us a place in heaven for an honest want to fulfil the needs of others is doing god’s work. Naturally, in all that we do at zubedy, in our training and advocacy work, with our friends and clients, we hold dearly to this belief.
So let us give our best and truest in everything that we do so we may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth.
